GABRIELE "SIP" CARBONI - electric guitar, flute, vocalist
I
was born in Bologna in 1971 and, during the youth, my life flowed smoothly among
school, sport (I was a promising tennis player but without success) and basket
games at Lunetta Gamberini. I took interest in music only around twenty when I
formed a demential rock group with some friends: "Il rivestimento pi" and started as
vocalist. As of today, I’m still playing in this group. Very soon I will be
attracted by guitar: at the beginning I played it as autodidact (by reading the
manuals of "how to become a guitarist in 24 hours") and later, I took
private lessons. In that period my love for music grows and ranges
from
rock to jazz and progressive music. While I was taking guitar lessons, I also
started studying flute and sax. I happened to play also balcanic music, it was
in 1996 during a summer camp with the International Civil Service in Maribor
(Slovenia). The outcome has been a CD containing folk music of several countries
with original arrangements. Then I decided to acquire more knowledge, therefore,
in summer 2000 I attended the seminars of Veneto Jazz where I studied guitar
with Vic Juris conducting. In that occasion, I was lucky enough to perform flute
in public together with the bass player Harvie
Swarz. Moreover, the same year, I
followed a specialization course for guitarists held by Tomaso Lama. As far as
musical tastes are concerned, I am quite "omnivorous": all that can
fit between Coltrane and Blackmore, passing through James Brown and PFM (with
Pagani at the flute). The meeting with Tenmidnight happened by chance: it was in
2004 at the mythical Music Box
in Casalecchio di Reno when I was talking with Robby about music in odd times...
You can listen our CD
to know all what happens inside that place, from
ten to midnight....
The music that will never get me tired:
